Chaim Topol dies, actor famous for Tevye portrayal in ‘Fiddler on the Roof’

Chaim Topol is most famous for breathing life into Tevye, a stern, yet loving, patriarch in an early 1900s Jewish shtetl. It’s a role the actor played on stage thousands of times. Topol’s booming voice and deeply empathetic performance made this character and his songs known around the world. He died today at the age of 87 at his home in Israel.
