FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

MINNEAPOLIS, AUGUST 6, 2015 — Public Radio International (PRI) announces that Michael Isip has been named to its Board of Directors, effective immediately. Isip is Chief Content Officer at KQED/San Francisco, one of the most listened to and watched public media stations in the country. As KQED “Editor in Chief” Isip is responsible for the overall strategic planning and development of all content acquired, curated, produced or presented for KQED audiences on television, radio, online and mobile platforms.

At a time when media technology is constantly evolving, Isip brings both strategic and operational thinking on how to reach and engage the audience beyond legacy broadcast platforms. Isip’s multi-platform media expertise will be invaluable to PRI as it continues its evolution from a broadcast distributor to creator of multi-platform content that inspires people to act. “Michael’s passion for integrating broadcast and digital experiences that enable people to fully engage with content is a terrific asset to PRI as we work to create a more informed, empathetic and connected world,” said Alisa Miller, President and CEO of PRI. “As we build a network that brings together individuals, stations, communities and journalism to support a vibrant global society, Michael’s experience and insights will guide us. I am pleased to welcome him to our Board.”

Isip has shaped KQED’s production and programming to highlight the diversity, and civic and cultural vitality of the Bay Area. Just as important has been his leadership in reorganizing KQED’s Content Division into genre specific multimedia units consisting of video, audio, and digital producers who create and deliver content to audiences where, when and how they want it. “I am honored to join PRI’s Board of Directors to help and support PRI as a leader and innovator in creating and delivering distinctive, impactful and highest quality content to serve audiences around the world,” says Isip.

Mr. Isip has two decades of media experience as on-air talent, an award-winning producer and a filmmaker as well as a media executive. Prior to coming to KQED, he was executive producer at KVIE Public Television in Sacramento. In addition to his role at KQED, Michael serves on the Boards of Pacific Islanders in Communications and POV (PBS’ documentary series), and is a Senior Fellow for the American Leadership Forum – Silicon Valley. He is a graduate of Cornell University and the DePaul College of Law.
