That’s why Spanish politicians have voted to offer the watering holes public subsidies. Their reasoning: bars serve much more than beer. They’re meeting halls, day care facilities, and recreation centers — all of which, they argue, are public services worthy of government funding. Reporter Gerry Hadden has the story.
