• Every night, 34,000 people must reside in immigration detention centers, according to a quota set by Congress, which means the U.S. spends about $2 billion a year on these detention centers. Congressman Bill Foster, who has served in Illinois’s 11th congressional district since 2012, discusses alternative approaches and how the issue plays out politically.
