Richard Kadrey writes occult noir — imagine Goodfellas meets Constantine. The protagonist of his Sandman Slim series is an enforcer and private eye who works, at times, both for God and Lucifer. But all his characters — even the divine ones — are portrayed more as quirky individuals than omniscient forces. He tells us about the possible film version of his work, and how he comes up with characters, scenes and locations. His sixth Sandman Slim book, The Getaway Gods, was released this fall.
