Jian Ghomeshi

Jian Ghomeshi is an award-winning broadcaster, writer, musician and producer who was born in London and is based in Toronto. He is now the host and co-creator of the daily CBC Radio One talk program "Q." Since its inception in 2007, "Q" has garnered the largest audience of any cultural affairs program in Canada and has become the highest-rated show in its morning time slot in CBC history.

Since its inception in 2007, "Q" has garnered the largest audience of any cultural affairs program in Canada and has become the highest-rated show in its morning time slot in CBC history.  Mixing insight and opinion with his trademark unscripted wit, Ghomeshi has interviewed an array of prominent international figures, including politicians, sports stars and cultural icons. His guest roster has featured Woody Allen, Van Morrison, Salman Rushdie, Jane Fonda, Radiohead, Barbara Walters, Tom Waits, William Shatner and, in a TV world-exclusive, Leonard Cohen.  Ghomeshi has hosted a number of television documentaries, including "The End," "Screw the Vote" and the forthcoming "Philanthropy Inc." He has spent three years as the host of "Play," a Gemini Award-winning CBC Television program. He has also been a contributor or guest on such programs as "CNN Today," "The National" and "Late Night with Conan O'Brien."  A writer whose editorials have been published in the "Washington Post," the "Guardian," "Globe and Mail," "Toronto Star" and "International Herald Tribune," Ghomeshi became a weekly columnist for the "National Post" in 2008.  As a singer, songwriter and musician, he was a member of multi-platinum selling folk-rock group, Moxy Früvous. He toured internationally during the 1990s and shared stages with a variety of artists, including Bob Dylan, Ani Difranco and Elvis Costello. He continues to write and produce music through his company, Wonderboy Entertainment, and manages the career of rising international star, LIGHTS, whom he has managed since 2001.  Ghomeshi has worked with many arts groups, including the National Ballet of Canada, the Canadian Opera Company and the Radio Starmaker Fund. He is a former member of the Board of Governors at the Stratford Theatre Festival. Born in London and of Iranian descent, he lives in Toronto, where he enjoys supporting a losing hockey team and eating pistachios.
