Shooting at Texas courthouse kills one, injures more

A shooting outside at a smalltown Texas courthouse killed one woman and injured several others Wednesday. The shooting marks the second violent incident at a US courthouse in less than a week.

Local news reports said a man shot several people outside the Jefferson County Courthouse in Beaumont, Texas just before noon on Wednesday.

An elderly woman was killed and three others were injured, according to Beaumont's CBS affiliate KDFM. The station said one victim was found inside the basement of the County Clerk's office while the others were shot in a parking lot.

Two of the victims may be related to the shooter, the Beaumont Enterprise reported. The paper said police had made an arrest.

The Houston Chronicle said up to five people may have been wounded.

Beaumont is a city of about 120,000 located about 80 miles east of Houston near the Texas gulf coast.

The shooting in follows another at a county courthouse in Washington state Friday. A sheriff's deputy and a judge were injured in that incident.
