Sen. Jim DeMint: no endorsements in South Carolina

Leading Tea Party member Sen. Jim DeMint said in a statement he will not endorse any Republican candidate in the South Carolina primary, USA Today reported

"I do not have a favorite in this race," DeMint said. "I've gotten to know each of the candidates over the past year and they are all far superior to Obama."

DeMint told South Carolina voters to keep an eye on tonight’s GOP presidential debate on Fox News, 9 p.m. ET. Choose who “you believe will fight the hardest to stop the massive spending, bailouts, and debt that are bankrupting our country."

He appeared on CBS’s “Face the Nation” Sunday saying he has no plans for a last-minute endorsement and that he is content with all of the GOP candidates, including Mitt Romney who he endorsed in 2008.

With Jon Huntsman’s announced departure today, the GOP presidential race is now narrowed down to five candidates: Romney, Newt Gingrich, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul and Rick Perry.
