Rush Limbaugh: departing advertisers are like stray ‘French fries’ (AUDIO)

Thinking the loss of 41 advertisers — an angry exodus after his remarks last week denigrating a Georgetown law student as a “slut” for advocating health coverage of contraception — would be hurting Rush Limbaugh?

You’d be wrong, according to Rush. The right-wing radio pundit, who has since twice apologized for his remarks, told listeners today that there was nothing to worry about.

Meanwhile, Canadian producer Bob Cesca announced yesterday that the Canadian band Rush have demanded that Limbaugh cease playing their music on air. (The 1980 song “The Spirit of Radio” was playing during one of Rush’s rants against the sudent, Sandra Fluke, according to Cesca.)

“Twenty-eight sponsors out of 18,000? That’s like losing a couple of French fries in the container when it’s delivered to you at the drive-thru. You don’t even notice it.”

“None of what’s happening is out of the ordinary. It’s just part of an onslaught to try to convince you that this show’s history.”

You can here his remarks in this audio.

Rush may say there were only 28 sponsors who had departed but, according to Politico, the number is now over 40.

The news website also quoted Limbaugh as saying: “Everything is fine on the business side. Everything’s cool. There is not a thing to worry about.”
