A gunman fire shots into the air and then traded gunfire with police outside the Tulsa County Courthouse on Wednesday afternoon, injuring a sheriff's deputy and an innocent bystander, according to Reuters.

The shooter was also wounded, said the police. Leland Ashley, a Tulsa police spokesman, said the gunman was in critical condition but the injuries sustained by the others were not life-threatening, reported Reuters.

According to MSNBC, Emergency Medical Services Authority Capt. Chris Stevens said one man was in critical condition, one was hospitalized in "serious condition" and a woman was in "fair condition."

John Fancher, a witness to the incident, said he heard three gunshots before he saw a man with a gun looking around. "The gunman casually sat down before deputies arrived and then turned toward them still holding the gun," MSNBC said, relaying Fancher's account.

Judges Jefferson Sellers and Rebecca Nightingale said they were in the courtrooms when they saw the gunfire exchanged, according to CBS News. Nightingale told the Tulsa World that the gunman fired at least two shots at the deputies, and Sellers said the police returned fire after ordering him to drop his weapon.
