Wael Ghonim, a Google executive and anti-Mubarak activist who has been missing for 10 days, has been released and is on his way home, according to a tweet from him.
Ghonim's tweet reads: "Freedom is a bless that deserves fighting for it."
He adds later that Dr. Hosam Badrawy "was reason I am out today."
CNN and The Associated Press, quoting Google, and Reuters, quoting his family, also report that Ghonim was freed.
A member of his family told Reuters by telephone: "Yes, we spoke to Wael. He has been released and he is on his way home."
Google said last week that Ghonim, its head of marketing for the Middle East and North Africa, had not been seen since Jan. 27 and began a public search for him, giving out a telephone number for information about him.
It was not clear who or what organization had been holding him.
The Wall Street Journal's blog, All Things Digital, describes Ghonim as "an internet activist who has helped run social networking sites critical of Egyptian President Hosni Mubarak's government, has become a rallying symbol for the demonstrators demanding the resignation of the long-time president."
