Time to make the donuts

Dunkin Donuts has signed an exclusive master franchisee agreement with Jubilant Foodworks, which also manages the Domino Pizza franchise, reports Moneycontrol.com. The first store will be operational early next year and Jubilant will open about 30 stores in the first three years of operations.

The chain is too late to be the first entry–with an outfit called Mad Over Donuts already on the ground in prime locations in Delhi. But you can never have too many donuts, according to Jubilant founder Hari Bhatia, who told CNBC-TV18:

"We evaluated and decided to see what would work in India with our own experience, what could be indigenized, what could be a value offering to a larger customer base and we find that Dunkin’ Donuts fits all the criteria that we were looking for."

In other words: Indians love fried stuff and sweet stuff and American stuff.  But they will never, ever eat McDonald's supercharged sugar oatmeal.
