Plane hits ferris wheel in Australia; 4 trapped

GlobalPost

A plane has crashed into a ferris wheel at a local fair in Taree, in the Australian state of New South Wales, leaving four people trapped.

The pilot and passenger on the ultra-light plane and two children trapped on the ferris wheel were not seriously injured, the Australian Associated Press reports.

The Australian Broadcating Corporation had this photo of the plane suspended in the ferris wheel.

The plane was reportedly taking off from a grass airstrip at Old Bar Beach Road in Old Bar and failed to get enough altitude to clear the ferris wheel.

AAP quoted a spokesman from NSW Rural Fire Service as saying that cranes had been brought in to help with the rescue.
