Bachmann’s New Hampshire staff quits

Republican presidential candidate Michele Bachmann's entire New Hampshire campaign staff resigned en masse on Friday, according to ABC News.

According to ABC News, five staff members quit altogether, including Jeff Chidester, a conservative talk-radio host described as a "longtime friend" of Bachmann's. The staff members said they quit because Bachmann had not paid enough attention to New Hampshire.

National Journal reports that one of the staffers, Southern New Hampshire field director Caroline Gilger, is joining Texas Governor Rick Perry's campaign.

Chidester would not confirm or deny the mass resignation to National Journal.

“The team did not release this story. The team is talking. We will release a joint statement when we are ready,” Chidester said.

According to Reuters, which said that six staffers had quit in New Hampshire, Bachmann has focused her efforts on Iowa, which will hold its caucuses January 3 and kick-off the 2012 nominating process.

Back in August, Bachmann won the Iowa Straw poll, but her campaign has lagged since. Reuters reports that she has been polling in the single digits in New Hampshire. In Iowa, polls have her in fourth place behind Herman Cain, Mitt Romney and Ron Paul.
