A wannabe cowgirl heads to the Autlan Carnival in Mexico
You are never too young to dance at the carnival.
AUTLAN, Mexico – Mexican carnivals are a riot of color and noise.
Cowboys and cowgirls – some real, many just wannabes – dance in the street to banda or mariachi music played by a multitude of musicians, while others cram into the plaza to watch bull riding and, in a few cities around the country, bullfighting.
Autlan, a city in the western state of Jalisco, is one of those cities to have la corrida de toros.
The 10-day Carnaval Taurino de Autlan de la Grana is considered to be one of the most important in Mexico and attracts some of the best cowboys and matadors from across the country and the world.
