A popular trail near Provo Canyon, Utah was found laden with booby traps made of rocks and sharpened sticks, the Associated Press reported. One trap was rigged so that a stick-covered boulder would swing into the head of an unsuspecting hiker. Another was designed to trip hiker into a bed of sharpened wooden branches.
The "crude but potentially deadly" traps were discovered by a park ranger on a routine stroll, according to Reuters. Benjamin Rutkowski, 19, and Kai Christensen, 21, were booked for misdemeanor reckless endangerment and are due in court on May 21.
Photos of the traps were posted to the website of the Utah County Sheriff's Department.

"This looks like something done just for the sake of hurting someone … it's like something just out of someone's evil mind," Utah County Sheriff's Sergeant Spencer Cannon said, according to Reuters.
BBC wrote that Rutkowski and Christensen were tracked down through incriminating comments posted on Facebook.
A Utah newspaper, the Daily Herald, reported that the two men confessed to the crimes.
