USA Track: Allyson Felix, Jeneba Tarmoh must decide their own Olympic fate (VIDEO)

Allyson Felix and Jeneba Tarmoh have the rare opportunity to decide their own Olympic fate.

The two US sprinters tied for third place during the 100 meter dash qualifying event, a tie so close that even the cameras couldn't tell who crossed the finish line first. 

Now, the duo must decide who gets to go to the Olympics by either a run-off or a coin toss. 

Years of dedicated training and hard work may come down to heads or tails, all because USA Track and Field has no rules in place in the event of a tie. 

To make matters even more awkward, both women share the same coach and are both sponsored by Nike and will likely receive a significant financial bonus if they make it to the Olympics, according to The New York Times.

Bobby Kersee, the coach for both athletes, told the Associated Press that he doubts either athlete will go for a coin toss. "Would you go to the Super Bowl and after two overtimes or what have you, have the referees take both coaches to the middle of the field and say, `We're going to flip to see who wins the Super Bowl?' I don't see that."

Kersee further explained that the USATF wants a decision made by Sunday on which path the athletes will take. Kersee told The New York Times he would have no part in deciding who goes to the Olympics because, “it would be like, ‘Which kid do you love the most?’”
