Rielle Hunter, John Edwards' former mistress, writes in her new book that the former presidential candidate told her of at least two other affairs and slammed his now deceased wife as a "witch on wheels."

In the book, "What Really Happened: John Edwards, Our Daughter And Me," Hunter depicts Elizabeth Edwards as "crazy," shouting demands at her husband, physically attacking him and callously firing his staffers, ABC News reported.

The book is set to hit stores June 26.

It follows Edwards' federal trial in North Carolina, which ended in May with an acquittal on one campaign finance charge and a mistrial on five others after the jury deadlocked, according to Reuters.

In it, Hunter defends Edwards' innocence in the criminal case while revealing he had at least two other affairs prior to 2004.

She also writes that he fabricated three other relationships in Chicago, Florida and Los Angeles soon after they initially hooked up in 2006 so she would not become too attached to him, the New York Daily News reported.

Edwards, 59, was accused of seeking more than $900,000 from two wealthy supporters to conceal Hunter and her pregnancy with his child from voters during his presidential bid four years ago.

At the time, Elizabeth Edwards was battling cancer. She died in December 2010.

At the end of the book, Hunter writes she still has romantic feelings for John Edwards but doesn't know how their relationship will turn out, according to The Associated Press.
