Paul Ryan on medical marijuana: Let the states decide (VIDEO)

GlobalPost

States should have the right to legalize medical marijuana, GOP vice presidential candidate Paul Ryan told a TV station in Colorado.

While stressing he doesn't personally approve of using marijuana for medical reasons, Ryan told Colorado Springs affiliate KRDO that he believes "it's up to Coloradoans to decide."

A clip of the interview aired Friday.

Colorado is one of 17 states, plus Washington, D.C., where medicinal marijuana use is legal, according to The Associated Press

In an earlier interview, Ryan's running mate, Mitt Romney, scoffed at a reporter's question on the issue.

“Aren’t there issues of significance that you’d like to talk about?” he said, according to Slate.

Romney went on to call marijuana a “gateway drug to other drug violations.”
