During an official engagement in Grimsby on March 5 2013 the Duchess of Cambridge told a well-wisher it would be a “long time” before she becomes Queen, after an elderly fan said she is waiting for her to take to the throne.
Kate Middleton is in no hurry to be Queen, telling fans in Grimsby it will be a "long time" before she is on the throne.
The remark came after an eldery well-wisher at a local hospice, Claire Moss-Smith, 86, told her: "I'm waiting for you to be Queen," the Daily Mail reported.
The Duchess replied with a smile: "You might be waiting a long time."
Dressed in a brown three-quarter length coat and with a slight hint of her baby bump, the Duchess attended three official engagements Tuesday.
The 31-year-old, who is about five months pregnant, told a school cookery class that she had been craving cupcakes.
Her visit to the industrial town was a highlight for locals, who waited an extra two hours for the Duchess whose helicopter arrival was delayed due to fog.
The palace was forced to defend the decision to use the $6000-a-ride aircraft after suggestions were made it would have been better for her to take the train, the Daily Beast reported.
