The award-winning international news site GlobalPost is hiring a regional editor. This full-time position with benefits is based at GlobalPost’s world headquarters in Boston, MA.
Our editorial mission at GlobalPost is simple: Earth, explained.
Here's what we’re looking for: a hard-working editor who can produce smart, compelling and provocative international news content at the highest levels. Someone who can find, develop and manage experienced journalists based all around the world. Someone who can field a story and edit it into glory under deadline, then write a bylined punchy blog post in response to the day’s news, all before coming up with three great in-depth reporting series ideas. Someone who thrives in an entrepreneurial environment where the best idea wins. Someone who embraces social media, as well as all the emerging digital tools available to tell the best stories in the world.
We are a start-up and prize a collegial atmosphere. The regional editor will be someone who plays well with others and is ready to pitch in no matter the unexpected challenge. We believe that international news is vital to understanding our world today. It’s also fascinating and should never feel like homework.
We also believe strongly in high quality, originally reported journalism. Founded in January 2009, GlobalPost has won a Peabody Award for our global video series On Location, an Overseas Press Club Award for our breaking news coverage of the Libyan rebellion, an Edward R. Murrow Award (On Location), and 25 Society of American Business Editors and Writers Best-in-Business Awards for our coverage and analysis of global business and the global economy. We are also a three-time finalist for the Webby Awards.
You should have a minimum of 5 years of professional experience – international experience preferred – and the legal status to work in the United States. Plus brains, talent and an indomitable spirit.
