Dick Cheney recovering after heart transplant

Dick Cheney, the former vice president who for years lived with heart problems, is recovering after a successful heart transplant today, his office announced.
He’s in the intensive care unit of Inova Fairfax Hospital in Falls Church, Va., MSNBC reported.
“Although the former Vice President and his family do not know the identity of the donor, they will be forever grateful for this lifesaving gift,” aide Kara Ahern said in a written statement.
In July 2010, Cheney survived his 5th heart attack since age 37, MSNBC said.
He’s also undergone bypass, 2 angioplasty surgeries and had a pacemaker inserted into his chest.
Cheney, 71, had been on the transplant list for 20 months, CNN said.

Cheney is a former Wyoming congressman who served as vice president under George W. Bush for consecutive terms ending in 2008.
Showtime plans on releasing a documentary called “The World According to Dick Cheney,” CNN said.
