Chad Johnson case: police release 911 phone recording

Florida police today released a recording of Miami receiver Chad Johnson's neighbor's 911 call after reality TV star Evelyn Lozada showed up saying her ex-husband and former Miami Dolphin had used violence against her, reported The New York Times. 

Davie police on late Monday released the Saturday recording, in which Lozada can be heard saying Johnson "headbutted me" — listen to it here.

After the call, 34-year-old Johnson was arrested on suspicion of domestic abuse, charges he denies. He was released Sunday on a $2,500 bond, according to The Washington Post. The Dolphins fired him shortly thereafter, reported The Miami Herald. 

The newlyweds reportedly had a dispute over the receipt for a box of condoms found in Johnson's car, said The Washington Post. 

The neighbor urged the police to keep a low profile in coming to the South Florida neighborhood in order to deal with an incident involving "a high profile person," The New York Times said, citing the police recording. 

The unidentified male speaker can also be heard telling Lozada, star of the reality show “Basketball Wives,” to "wipe herself" — likely referring to her head wound, said The Miami Herald. The neighbor then informed the police Lozada “has a nice cut on the forehead that I believe is going to need stitches," according to The Washington Post. She was later taken to a hospital. 

Chad plead no contest in a 2000 charge of domestic abuse by a former girlfriend, said The Washington Post, citing Johnson's 2006 book “Chad: I Can’t Be Stopped."
