Bruce Springsteen, Bill Clinton to campaign for Obama in Ohio

President Barack Obama is calling upon some American heavyweights to lend him a hand on the campaign trail.

Rock legend Bruce Springsteen and former President Bill Clinton will stump for Obama in swing state Ohio, The Associated Press reported.

They will appear together at a rally in Parma on Thursday, the AP said, and Springsteen will perform alone later that night at another event.

The next presidential debate is Tuesday at Hofstra University in New York.

Ohio, always a key state in elections, is gaining even further importance.

The AP said that while Obama enjoys a slight lead in the Ohio polls, Republican candidate Mitt Romney is ramping up his campaign there.

Clinton drew rave reviews for his speech at the Democratic National Convention last month in Charlotte.

Springsteen was also part of Obama’s team in 2008.

His song, “We Take Care of Our Own,” can be heard at Obama events, the Washington Post said.

“Bruce Springsteen’s values echo what the president and vice-president stand for: hard work, fairness, integrity,” Obama's campaign manager, Jim Messina, said.

“His appearances will help with our get out the vote effort in these critical swing states.”
