Austria: Ice cream murder woman sentenced to life in prison

The owner of an ice cream parlor in Austria will spend the rest of her life in jail after she was found guilty of murdering her husband and lover, the BBC and Associated Press reported today.

A Vienna court convicted and sentenced Estibaliz Carranza earlier today.

Carranza, who has joint Spanish-Mexican citizenship, shot dead her husband in 2008 and her boyfriend two years later, the BBC said.

She chopped up their bodies with a chainsaw and stored their body parts in a freezer before burying them in concrete in the basement of her shop in the Austrian capital.

The Agence France-Presse reported that the remains were discovered by chance during maintenance work in June 2011.

The 34-year-old, dubbed the “Ice Lady” by Austrian media, confessed to the murders in court on Monday, the AFP said.

She will be held in psychiatric care, the AP reported.
