Everyone comes up with excuses to get out of jury duty, but Jacob Clark has a doozy — he's only 9.

When he received the summons, Jacob's grandmother joked with the third-grader that it was a good reason to miss school, The Associated Press reported.

"I was like, 'What's a jury duty?'" Jacob told the Cape Cod Times after being ordered to appear in Orleans District Court on April 18.

The jury commission office told Jacob's father that someone apparently had typed 1982 for the Yarmouth boy's birth year instead of 2002, according to the AP.

The mistake was quickly corrected, according to the Cape Cod Times.

Massachusetts Jury Commissioner Pamela Wood told the AP a child gets called for jury duty once or twice a year.
