30 small earthquakes shake Southern California

A cluster of 30 earthquakes shook Southern California over the last day with no reported damages.

According to the Los Angeles Times, the quakes began Tuesday night and continued Wednesday in northern Orange County.

At a news conference Wednesday morning, Kate Hutton of the US Geological Survey at Caltech said only three of the 30 could be felt by California residents, the LA Times reported.

"This is all part of the same earthquake sequence; they're all in the same area,'' Hutton told reporters, adding more aftershocks were expected.

The Associated Press said a 4.5 magnitude quake occurred at 9:33 a.m. and was two miles northeast of the Orange County city of Yorba Linda, about 35 miles southeast of Los Angeles.

A 4.5 quake also struck the area late Tuesday night.
