3 killed in New Jersey supermarket shooting

A gunman opened fire at a suburban New Jersey supermarket early Friday, killing two people before turning the gun on himself.

According to the Star-Ledger, the gunman was a 23-year-old former Marine named Terence S. Tyler.

Killed were recent high school graduate Cristina LoBrutto, 18, and  Bryan Breen, 24, the Star-Ledger reported.

Local ABC station WABC said the shooting took place at the Pathmark grocery store in Old Bridge, New Jersey, a suburb about 25 miles from New York. Police responded a shooting at the Pathmark store at about 4 a.m. where employees were stocking shelves. The supermarket was not open at the time. 

WABC reports that there was a confrontation between police and the gunman, who reportedly wore body armor.

NBC News reports that nearby NJ Transit's Old Bridge Park 7 Ride metro is closed as the investigation continues.
