Orlando man sues temp agency for manufacturing accident that took his penis
Edgardo Toucet came to Florida from Puerto Rico barely able to speak English. Through the Spartan Staffing temp agency, he found work at a foam-cutting factory. But a terrible accident on the job changed everything–in 2010, his penis and testicles were completely severed by a spinning blade. He is now suing Spartan Staffing, the Huffington Post reported. "You can only imagine" what Edgardo Toucet is going through, one of his lawyers, Michael Valen, told HuffPo.
Toucet says that he received no formalized training before being put on the factory floor. The suit also claims that the blade had no safety guard and that its emergency off-switch didn't work reliably.

His suit argues that Spartan Staffing employee Barbara Pridgen was responsible for checking up on safety procedures, but that Toucet still "received no orientation or other formalized instruction or training in preparation for his temporary work assignment as a peeler machine helper," Courthouse News Service reported.
Toucet previously tried to sue the actual foam company, but that suit was dismissed in 2011, Orlando Sentinel reported at the time.
