Great Satan through the years, or: stuff Iran likes to burn

When President Barack Obama and President Hassan Rouhani spoke on the telephone Friday, it marked the first time in 30 years that leaders from the United States and Iran have conversed.

What's taken them so long? Well, perhaps leaders from the US have taken offence to the many, many times irate Iranians have used presidential images in propaganda against "American imperialism."

Posters, slogans and effigies have long been burned, stomped upon and otherwise derided as hardline Iranians demonstrate, march and protest the "great Satan."
