BOSTON, Mass. — The award-winning international news organization GlobalPost is hiring a Deputy Social Media Editor at its worldwide headquarters in Boston.
GlobalPost is looking for a social media whiz to help build the organization’s presence and reach online. The right candidate is excited about social media and exploring new platforms, and has the knowledge and confidence to take part in the world news conversation happening all over the web — including on Twitter and Facebook.
You will work with the social and news team to help drive traffic, encourage engagement, and attract new followers. You will also help come up with interesting story ideas and engaging ways to talk about the world’s headlines. If figuring out how to make world news go viral sounds like an exciting challenge to you, you should apply.
The perfect candidate will have 2-3 years of experience in journalism or digital media, a solid background in writing and editing, understand the voice of the web and know what makes a story shareable, from the headline on down. The position also allows ample opportunity to write stories, or create other types of shareable content related to global news. If you’re a data geek or you know how to make infographics, that’s a plus.
You are creative, can work independently and are not afraid to try new things. You thrive in an always-evolving, collaborative environment. You have a sense of humor. You work well with others. You energetically embrace internet culture and are eager to join a hard-charging editorial team that’s helping redefine international news in the digital age.
Mostly, you care about the world. This is a full-time job that offers a competitive salary and benefits, with lots of opportunity to evolve and grow within the organization.
