Revelers take part in a giant pillow fight on the north terrace of Trafalgar Square on International Pillow Fight Day in London.
A cloud of feathers hung over participants during this year's International Pillow Fight Day.
Thousands of fun-loving souls grabbed bed pillows, couch cushions — pretty much anything soft enough that you could hit people with it — and took to the streets in more than 80 cities around the world on Saturday.
The pillow fights were organized as a way to get people outside and blow off steam, organizers said.
In New York, people dressed up as superheroes battled villains. Feathers also flew in London, Paris, Bucharest, and Berlin.
The participants were not allowed to hit anyone with a camera (well, one would hope they wouldn't), or any "unarmed" civilians.
As you can see, it was a raucous good time. We're only sad we missed it.
At The World, we believe strongly that human-centered journalism is at the heart of an informed public and a strong democracy. We see democracy and journalism as two sides of the same coin. If you care about one, it is imperative to care about the other.
