Boston bombings suspects planned to ‘party’ in New York, police say

NEW YORK – 19-year-old Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, the surviving Boston Marathon bombing suspect, told investigators from his hospital bed that he and his brother Tamerlan, 26, had planned to go to New York "to party" after the attacks last Thursday night, according to The New York Post which cited NYPD Commissioner Ray Kelly.
The bombings killed three people and injured some 200 others after two explosive devices detonated at the Marathon's finish line.
"The information that we received said something about partying or having a party," Kelly said on Wednesday.
The commissioner said that the Tsarnaev brothers were not planning further attacks in Manhattan, as feared, but that authorities were continuing to investigate any possible contacts in the area, the Huffington Post reported.

"There was some information that they may have been intent on coming to New York, but not to continue doing what they were doing," Kelly clarified.
Since the bombings, the New York police department has stepped up security around the city's landmarks and subway system.
