It’s been too long since we last heard a mix like this. Sure funk carioca or kuduro can provide some of the same maniacally mono-rhythmic rush as our favorite down-south danceform, but they struggle to match the best of bounce’s raw power. And comparisons aside, it can’t help but feel good to hear the roots of American music running through the grinder of this gloriously fowl-mouthed genre. Featuring cuts from nationally known MC’s like Sissy Nobby and Big Freedia while taking the time to throw some light on lesser-known talents like the (wonderfully named) Frankyboy Murdafeen, the mix runs the triggaman gauntlet perfectly, mainlining the groove while keeping things just varied enough to prevent monotony from creeping in. More please.
