A Conversation with Lena Dunham, Creator and Star of HBO's Girls

The Takeaway
On this Memorial Day, we're revisiting some of our favorite Takeaway interviews from the last year,  like our conversation back in April with Lena Dunham, creator and star of the hit series Girls. We spoke with Lena when her show had just hit HBO. Since, Girls has taken off in popularity, but not without its fair share of controversy.  The show has been criticized for being too white, too privileged, and too sex driven.  But still, the series has been widely lauded for its raw, humorous, and refreshing take on young women living in New York City. Call it the antidote to Sex and the City.   There are three more episodes to go in Season 1, and the show has already been renewed for a second season. This interview was originally broadcast on April 9, 2012.
