The News of the World phone hacking scandal that erupted last July was so shocking that British Prime Minister David Cameron ordered an inquiry by a senior judge Lord Leveson into the entire newspaper industry. It got under way in London on Monday and there was some dramatic evidence showing widespread illegal activity at the tabloid. Lead attorney Robert Jay QC gave new details from the notebook of Glenn Mulcaire, the private investigator jailed for his role in phone hacking along with former royal editor Clive Goodman.
