Germany arrests Al Qaeda suspects, averts “imminent” terror threat

Three suspected Al Qaeda terrorists arrested in Germany posed an "imminent" threat, the country's top security official has said, according to the Associated Press.
Interior minister Hans-Peter Friedrich said the suspects had been under surveillance since Apr. 15, and their arrests early Friday by German "intelligence services and foreign partner organisations" had averted a serious danger.
The case showed that Germany remained a target of international terrorists, he said.
Prosecutors said they will appear before a judge in the south-west city of Karlsruhe on Saturday.
