Burma aid effort

If you can get through to Burma on a mobile phone, the news is still grim. Burma's government continues to keep most international aid workers from entering the Irrawaddy Delta and there are accusations that the Junta has appropriated the aid. There are several reports that Burmese workers trying to deliver the food are being stopped by the government. Two UN trucks drove into Burma from Thailand over the weekend and some major aid organizations are able to deliver some aid but only in cleared areas, and they still report of limitations. Some local organizations are finding their way through the backdoor and Mae Sot is one such way. Representatives from the Mae Sot clinic say the biggest needs are medicine, water purification tablets and then food, particularly baby food.
