According to the World Health Organization, Polycystic Ovary Syndrome — or PCOS — impacts a huge number of women, but the “C” in its name — for “cystic” — has caused serious misunderstandings. Experts say the new name — polyendocrine metabolic ovarian syndrome, PMOS — represents a major advancement for diagnosis and treatment. The World’s Host Carolyn Beeler speaks to Helena Teede, who spearheaded the change, about why it matters.
