It’s been almost 30 years since Indonesia set out on its path to democracy. But concerns are now growing that authoritarian tactics to squash basic rights are returning to the country, given increasing threats made against activists, influencers and journalists. It was an acid attack last month that really brought this into focus, as Dave Grunebaum reports.
