In the last few months, the push to replace real elephants with mechanical ones has geared up in India, with around 25 mechanical elephants now placed in Indian temples, primarily in the state of Kerala. The slow but upward trend has had many supporters and recently moved into the private sector, with people buying robot elephants to rent out for weddings and other ceremonies.
