Tarique Rahman, the leader of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), was sworn in as the country’s new prime minister on Tuesday. The 60 year-old Rahman spent 17 years in self-imposed exile in London, before returning to Bangladesh late last year. He’s the son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and will be the first elected leader to take office since the youth-led protests toppled the previous government in Bangladesh in 2024.
