Cuba’s energy sector is feeling the pinch of the departure of the island’s longtime ally, deposed Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro. Mexico has stepped in to supply some oil, but not at levels high enough to replace supplies previously provided by Caracas. Jorge Piñón, who studies Cuba’s energy infrastructure at the University of Texas at Austin discusses the implications with The World’s Host Marco Werman.
