Vietnam abolishes death penalty for embezzlement, spying

Vietnam’s parliament has voted to abolish the death penalty for eight criminal offenses, including embezzlement and espionage. One high-profile beneficiary of the change is a billionaire property tycoon who is one of Vietnam’s richest businesswomen. Quỳnh Vi Trần, who runs the nonprofit Legal Initiatives for Vietnam, speaks with The World’s Host Carolyn Beeler about the implications.
