What it takes to pull off the world’s largest election

Indian law requires that no voter should travel more than 1.25 miles to be able to cast their vote. Election officials fan across the large and geographically diverse country, setting up booths in some of its most remote corners. They haul their precious cargo — electronic voting machines — on rickey boats and on treks, braving extreme weather and difficult terrain.
