Xi reaches out to Zelenskiy in a ‘long and meaningful’ phone call

The leaders of China and Ukraine haven’t spoken since Russia launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than a year ago. But today, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy spoke with Chinese leader Xi Jinping on the phone for more than an hour. David Rennie, The Economist’s bureau chief in Beijing talks with The World’s host Marco Werman about what the call might signal.
