Sexism has long been an issue in the chess world, where women only make up about 10% of licensed players globally, according to the International Chess Federation. But since the COVID-19 pandemic began, online chess has been taken more seriously. The World’s Bianca Hillier reports that it’s also meant that anonymous, sexist comments have increased.
