The messaging platform WhatsApp announced it’s taking new steps to combat the spread of fake news and rumors ahead of India’s general election later this month. Host Marco Werman interviews Rema Rajeshwari, a police chief who oversees some 700 villages in the Indian state of Telangana. Rajeshwari has made stopping fake news and hate speech in her district a priority and says the steps WhatsApp and its parent company Facebook are taking may be “too little, too late.”
