What’s the purpose of diplomatic immunity?

The World

Diplomatic immunity is the idea that if you’re posted abroad, you and your family can’t be prosecuted in the country where you’re sent. It’s designed to allow diplomats to do their jobs without fear. Host Marco Werman speaks to Craig Barker, a diplomatic immunity expert and dean of the London South Bank University School of Law and Social Sciences.
