As international action on climate change continues to move slower than science suggests is necessary, climate-vulnerable nations have turned to the courts to try to force faster action. The latest example: Vanuatu is calling on the United Nations International Court of Justice to issue an “advisory opinion” on the legal obligations countries face under international law to act on climate change and protect human rights.
